Ice Hockey was a pretty visionary game when you stop and think about it. It was made in 1988, the same year that the standard home computer had about 640KB of RAM, and instead of having a couple of characters with no discernible differences they changed the entire landscape of sports games by giving the player the choice between three body types: Small, Medium and Large.

Small is the fastest but gets knocked down easily. Large is fat, slow but can knock over pretty much anyone he wants. Medium of course is somewhere in the between.

Now the brilliance of this team strategy is that you could make an all little team and be lightning fast but a bunch of push-overs or you can do an all fat-ass team that’s slow as shit but can do the bullying. Point being that there’s a lot of options and what works for me might not work for you, which is why you have to mix and match your find the ideal team.

Lesson:

Small, medium, large… the best team has some combination of all three.
